The Hazardous Materials Tech-I program utilizes the IFSTA text book: Hazardous Materials Technician, 1st Edition. The text consists of twelve chapters including: Review of Haz Mat Competencies, Scene Management, Chemical and Physical Properties, Chemistry and Hazards, Exposure Assessment and Toxicology, Hazard and Response Information, Detection and Monitoring, PPE, Decontamination, Container Identification, Product Control and Demobilization and Termination. Students must achieve a minimum of 70% on the cognitive portion and skills to qualify for the certification final. |
