The Mississippi State Fire Academy is excited to announce the expansion of training opportunities for our state firefighters.
As of July 1 2020 the SFA has authority to offer Emergency Medical Response training for firefighters statewide. These courses will give our state firefighters an additional option with regard to how and where they wish to obtain EMS training.
Our courses will consist of EMR, EMT-Basic, and EMT-Advanced. We will also be offering the National Continued Competency Program blocks (refreshers) for those firefighters that are seeking recertification. This will include the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training and the associated blocks necessary to maintain EMS recertification continuing education.
We will be announcing the implementation of these programs as they are developed over the next several weeks. In addition, course availability and schedules for 2021 will be published in our 2021 State Fire Academy catalog for your convenience. If you have any questions regarding the State Fire Academy EMS training programs please call our EMS Instructor Supervisor Rob Fisher at 601-932-2444.
