The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has been approved through the National Earthquake Technical Assistance Program (NETAP) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to host two training courses in our state.
One class is a combo course titled FEMA P-154 Rapid Visual Screenings of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards (Pre-disaster) and ATC-20 Post Earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings (Post-disaster). The second course is FEMA E-74 Reducing the Risks of Nonstructural Earthquake Damage and it addresses nonstructural issues found in schools, office buildings, retail stores, hotels/casinos, data centers, hospitals, museums, etc. This is a great opportunity for free education targeted towards a wide ranged audience of building officials, engineers, architects, business owners, emergency managers, risk analysts, volunteers, etc.
The classes last 8 hours each and there are no registration fees. Register no later than March 29th. Attached there are flyers for each course that gives more information such as the date, location, and times the courses will be held and the instructor’s information and how to register.
